The Boy had taken the day off as we had some immigration stuff to take care off and then the Boy had a gig in the evening. The plan was to spend the day watching a movie and eating a leisurely lunch. Post immigration stuff, we decided to check online for movie times as we are so out of it these days. Nothing appealed. The new Avengers movie was too long and the Best Exotic Marigold Hotel is the kind of movie that does not really benefit from Dolby sound. So we did something else...something we don't usually get to do now that we have a Gherkin. We went biking together after two years. We rode our bikes all the way to the end of our neighborhood trail, walked around a lake with only a flock of geese for company and came back. After a quick shower and change of clothes we went out for lunch to our favorite Cuban restaurant, which given its tiny size is not at all baby friendly hence off limits for family outings. Two mojitos, lunch and a shared flan later, all we wanted was a nap...but instead we got a headache each!
Apparently we needed to hydrate a lot more given all the outdoor exercise we got and the mojito's did not help matters either. But it was all worth it - the relaxed conversation about nothing in general, the peace and quiet, not having to bother about wiping drool off a toddler, enjoying a mojito without a pair of grubby hands swiping at the straw.
