Wisdom Indeed

Wisdom

When I have ceased to break my wings
Against the faultiness of things,
And learned that compromises wait
Behind each hardly opened gate,
When I have looked Life in the eyes,
Grown calm and very coldly wise,
Life will have given me the Truth,
And taken in exchange -- my youth.

-- Sara Teasdale

Very touching...specially loved the bit about compromises waiting behind hardly opened gates. Its probably this that makes the road not taken so alluring and the memories of unfulfilled love so enduring - the expectation of not having to make compromises, the hope of simplicity at the end of the trail. Its probably this that makes romantics of the unwise, lovers of the naive.
