Harry Potter and the Squealing Babes

Like all 25+ fans of the British boy wizard, we lined up to watch the movie on Friday...we even decided to forego our student discounts to buy full price online tickets. The movie is well done (a tad bit long), but I must warn you against watching this movie with hyperventilating teenage school girls...believe me, it will do strange things to your nervous system. Unfortunately for us, the whole theatre was full of representatives from the said demographic and the director has left no stone unturned in wooing this demographic. So we sat and watched scene after scene of Harry and the Squealing Babes( both on screen and off - even Moaning Myrtle joins in) unfold and came back feeling rather old and nostalgic. Oh well, we had "The Wonder Years" so its only right that this generations get all goose pimple-y at the thought of the Potter boy.

PS: I also could not get over the fact that Voldemort was just a guy without a nose...totally wrong I tell you. Mike Newell gets someone as dishy as Ralph Fiennes to play Voldemort and then covers him with gallons of grey plasticine and hides his nose. Atleast in ' The English Patient" we got to oggle at him once in a while.

But Voldemort does have a flat, snake-like nose in the books too, doesn't he? I almost expected him to have red eyeballs as well with an elongated pupil. Sort of like the Eye of Sauron. Remarkable similarity, no? But no, maybe not so remarkable after all.
